
Open any control panel — an MCC, a PCC, an APFC panel, a PLC enclosure — and the difference between a well-built one and a poorly built one is rarely the big components. The contactors, breakers, and drives are usually the same handful of trusted brands regardless of who assembled the panel. What actually varies, panel to panel, is the quality of everything holding the wiring together underneath: the terminations, the dressing, the connectors nobody sees once the door is closed but everyone depends on.
For a panel builder, this is where reputation is actually won or lost. A panel that looks clean and wires that are dressed properly signal quality to the client's engineer doing the FAT inspection — and a panel where wires are chafing against a sharp edge, or a termination that was never fully seated, is where a callback six months later usually traces back to.

Termination at the wire end
Every stripped conductor going into a terminal block, contactor, or connector needs a clean, secure termination — not a bare frayed end pushed into a screw terminal, which is still common practice among lower-cost panel shops and is exactly the kind of detail that fails an inspection or works loose under vibration.
Insulated bootlace ferrules (EHI terminals) solve this properly: crimped onto the stripped end, they give a solid, low-resistance connection and prevent strand fraying at the terminal — VLC's EHI Terminals cover the 18-14 AWG range most commonly used in panel wiring.

Splicing and quick connections
Not every connection in a panel goes to a terminal block — control wiring, indicator lights, and auxiliary circuits often need quick, reliable splices.
VLC's wire-nut connectors (P1 through P5, covering 22-10AWG, rated 600V/105°C) give panel builders a fast, code-compliant way to make these connections without a full terminal block, and our closed-end connectors (Type CE2, nylon insulated, internal copper crimp) handle permanent splice joints in both heavy-duty and light-duty configurations.

Wire dressing inside the enclosure
A panel with wiring bundled neatly along defined runs is easier to trace, easier to service, and simply looks like the work of someone who does this for a living.
Nylon cable ties (natural white for indoor enclosure work, available across 37 sizes) and our in-house manufactured Tie Mounts let panel builders route and anchor wiring bundles cleanly to the backplate without relying on adhesive alone.

Panel manufacturers building for MNC plants, OEM production lines, or infrastructure projects are routinely asked to show component-level certification as part of vendor approval — not just for the panel as a whole, but for what's inside it.
